Leo Ira, 86 of Kirkwood formerly of Desloge, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Chesterfield.He was born August 29, 1926 to the late Leo and Alice (Qualls) Ira Sr. and later served his country in The United States Army Air Corps, where he was a radio operator at the close of WWII.He is a member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Park Hills.Leo was also a member and past Master of the Elvins Masonic Lodge. He is also preceded in death by wife, Elise (Holloman) Ira. Leo is survived by children, Ellynn Jan (Mrs. Len) Barnicle of Jackson, Stephen Leo Ira and wife Cindy of Elsah IL, Mary Beth (Mrs. Andy) Taylor of Manchester; grandchildren, Tony Thompson, Jeff Barnicle, Stacy Corcoran, Andy Ira, Ashly Strumpler, Scott Ira, Stacy Patredis, Kristen Poloncic and Casey Taylor; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jake, Alexis, Rylie, Tanner, Ethan, Lizzy, Courtney, Emma, Evan, Dannilynn, Haiden, Sam, and SJ; special niece/daughter, Susan Jonsson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.A Masonic service will be held at 2:00 PM with a Memorial service following immediately and Dr. Grant F.C. Gillard will be officiating.Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington with full military honors.Memorials may be given to the St. Louis Zoo or St. Lukes Hospice.A celebration of life for Leo will be held in St. Louis at a later date.
