Lena Bockenkamp

          Lena Bockenkamp, 82, of Irondale, passed away July 19, 2021, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre.  She was born October 1, 1938, in Irondale, to the late Chester Homer and Goldie Vernice (Hasty) Province.  Lena was of Methodist faith, she loved to quilt, embroidery and making fudge that everyone loved. She played Bingo, made crafts, watched birds and even had a pet squirrel named Elmer, that she fed on her front porch and a cat “Miss Kitty” she loved with all her heart.  Lena was on the St. Joe Manor residency board and felt God had put her there to take care of her fellow residents. Lena was a loving mother to all eight children and loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren dearly.  She was good to listen to others troubles and her motto was “Remember Me XOXO.”

          She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Charles Lee Bockenkamp, Sr.; brother, Willard Province and one grandchild, Wade Franklin.

          Lena is survived by eight children, Avonne (Howard Sr.) Williams, Charles “Chuck” (Susie) Bockenkamp, Jr., Chester “Bill” (Cheryl) Bockenkamp, Sr., Denise (Dwight Thomas) Caldwell, David (Sonya) Bockenkamp, Sr., Bonnie (George Jr.) Whaley, Linda Bockenkamp, and Janet (Richard) Franklin; twenty grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Montoya and Annie (Chimer “Kim”) Davis; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

          Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, July 23, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  The visitation will resume, Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:30 AM until service time at 11:30 AM.  Reverend Lennie Fincher will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Mineral Point.
