Kenneth “Ken” A. LaBorde, 88, of Farmington passed away February 6, 2025. He was born February 2, 1937, in Mansura, LA to the late Adras and Verna (Gauthier) LaBorde. In addition to Ken’s parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Marilyn Willis and Michael Cook
After high school, Ken enlisted in the United States Air Force fulfilling a commitment to serve his country for 14 years. Following his military service, Ken embarked on a successful career as a building engineer with Chase Park Plaza, a position he held for 20 years before retiring. Ken was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington and was involved in several veteran organizations, including being a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2426 in Desloge, American Legion Post 83 in Bonne Terre, Disabled American Veterans, P.O.W. and the 67 Gun Club, reflecting his commitment to both community and country.
Outside of work and service, Ken was passionate about many pursuits. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the sport's camaraderie and challenge. His hands were skilled at crafting and building, making him a reliable resource for family and friends. Ken also delighted in tending to his vegetable garden, nurturing it with the same care he applied to his relationships. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family, who were the center of his life.
Ken is survived by his wife, Wandine “Deanie” (Shaw) LaBorde; children, Emil (Stacey) Meyer, Jarrod (Michelle) LaBorde, Hope Wesley, Brandy (Larry) Johnston, Woodrow James Denson, Steven Patrick (Trista) Skierkiewicz; step daughter, Denise Starkey; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, Veronica Gail LaBorde, Eugene “Gerry” LaBorde, Gordon (Jeanie) LaBorde, Tommy (Karen) LaBorde; dear friends, Dennis Sweet and Jim Evans along with other family and friends.
The family is planning a memorial gathering to celebrate Ken’s life. The obituary will be updated with the date and time when finalized. Memorials if desired can be made in Ken’s memory to a veteran’s charity of your choice. A private family inurnment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Arrangements under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son-Taylor Chapel in Farmington, Missouri.
