Katie Breeding, of Farmington passed away Wednesday March 27, 2024 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Home in Farmington, MO at the age of 87. She was born on August 1, 1936 to Commadore and Laura Butrum who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years George Breeding and one infant daughter, Donna Jean Breeding.
Katie loved to cook and worked for Presbyterian Children's Home for many years as the kitchen manager. She also owned and operated her own restaurant in the early 70’s, Kay’s Cafe. Katie was a member of the Farmington Church of the Nazarene where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen for every special event. Katie loved spending time with her family and going to church. Earlier in life she volunteered for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was very special and the sweetest person anyone could have met.
She is survived by two children, Teresa (John) Bollinger of Aurora, MO and Tom (Tammy) Breeding of Farmington. Five grandchildren Gwendolyn (Adam) Mitchell, Amanda Holbrook, Megan Summers, Kayla (Derek) Lester, Rebecca (Josh) Scism, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00 until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington, MO. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Association.
