Juanita Sedgwick, age 90, of DeSoto passed away May 4, 2013 at Georgian Gardens. She was born July 25, 1922 to the late Ralph Smith and Henrietta (Forrester) Hedgecorth ?? Smith. Also preceding in death is her husband, Lewis Sedgwick; Son, Elbert "Bud" Sedgwick; four brothers, Harvey Smith, Ernest Smith, Edward Smith and Gene Smith in infancy; two sisters, Helen Alberta "Bert" Davis, and Ruby Sago. Juanita was a member of the Flat River Church of God, she was a Sunday School Teacher for numerous years at several of the local churchs, Juanitas true passion was to read and teach about the bible. Juanita owned and operated the Ceramic Shop in Leadington, she was the recipient of several awards for her ceramic art work. Juanita was also an avid quilter. Juanita is survived by son, Arthur Sedgwick and wife Elaine of Farmington; daughter, Alberta Racer and husband Paul of Imperial; six grandchildren, Kim Albritton, Jeff Racer, William Sedgwick, Krista Sedgwick, Lynnlea Cooley, Brandon Sedgwick and wife Tara; Ten Great-Grandchildren; two sisters, Winnie McMahon and June Dickenson and husband Donald of Mineral Point; special niece, Margie Rehbein.Visitation will be Tuesday May 7, 2013 from 4 to 9 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Leadwood. Funeral Service will be 2 pm Wednesday May 8, 2013 at the Boyer Funeral Home in Leadwood with Rev. Eric Wade officiating. Interment will follow at the Leadwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
