John (Johnny) Michael Stam of Farmington passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1946, to the late John Henry Ward Stam and Nellie (Howell) Stam. John spent 31 years with the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic where he worked as an engineering technician. In addition, he was previously employed by the State of Missouri and was a building inspector for the City of Farmington. After his retirement in 2009, he enjoyed model trains, assembling model airplanes, and spending time with his family, including his four granddaughters and his loyal dog Inky.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Larry) Kelley; in-laws, Oral and Verna Cole; and brothers-in-law, Herbert Beck and Cecil Watkins.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita Stam; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Christina Stam; daughter, Lori Bryan; and grandchildren, Madelyn Stam, Claire Stam, Kate Stam, and Ava Bryan. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Watkins and Susan (Jim) Billedo; sister-in-law, Janet Beck; brother-in-law, Michael (Kathy) Cole; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. An inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
