John Russell Martin

John “Russ” Martin, 84, of Bonne Terre passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 26, 1933 to the late Howard G. Martin and Gertrude P. (Perry) Pollard.

 

Russ proudly served our country in the United States Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6683 and was locally known as an excellent painter and drywall finisher. Russ loved playing poker, enjoyed shooting pool, deer and bird hunting was a pastime of his, and of course Stag beer was a favorite.

 

In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Brinkman) Martin; stepfather, Cecil Pollard; daughter, Debbie Psalmonds; grandchild, Heather Simmons; three brothers; four sisters; and son-in-law, Rick Pence.

 

He is survived by his wife Donna (Miner) Martin; children, John “Gene” Martin, Brenda Pence, Cindy and husband Danny Edgar, Steve Martin, Jody and husband Wyck Wadlow, Marie Martin; son-in-law, Jerry Psalmonds; daughter-in-law, Charlene Martin; stepchildren, Mike Thomas, Michele Thomas, and Tammi and husband Jim Carver; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5 pm to 9 pm at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Bonne Terre. Funeral service will begin at 11 am on Friday, June 22, 2018 at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Bonne Terre with Pastor Greg McCord officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph cemetery.
