John "Jack" Hudson, Sr., 83, of Bonne Terre passed away April 6, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 10, 1929 in Memphis, TN. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the Illinois State Commander of VFW Post 1699 in Cahokia, retired from Concordia Seminary as a painter and then later worked at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center for ten years. John was a member of the Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Mattie (Perkins) Hudson; two brothers, Roy Hudson and Lee "Bud" Hudson.John is survived by his wife, Vera (Watkins) Hudson; seven children, Jean Cox, John Hudson, III, Steve Hudson, Curt Hudson, Cathryn (Jimmy) Case, Karen Waldecker, Lisa (Shawn) Brown; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Cummings; sister, Kattie (Lonnie) Davis. Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 8:30 AM at the Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church. Service will be at 10:00 AM with Rev. Larry Allison officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:30 PM with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church.
