John Elton Yount

John Yount, 88, of Leadwood, passed away May 6, 2015 at Presbyterian Manor, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born October 19, 1926 to the late Everett and Elizabeth (Martin) Yount in Bonne Terre, and later served his country in The United States Marines during WWII. John married the love of his life, Myra Ruth (Banes) Yount in September 21, 1946 and was married for 55 years. He was employed at St. Joe Minerals Corp. for 40 years, retiring as Chief Surveyor in 1986. John was on the Leadwood Cemetery Board since 1955 and resigned in 2006, after 51 years. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Leadwood for 59 years, and in 1997, became a member of First Baptist Church in Desloge. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myra Ruth (Banes) Yount; son, John Stephen Yount; two brothers, Delmon and Bob Yount. John is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Tom) Kernan; daughter-in-law, Connie Yount; three grandchildren, Kyle Stephen (Anna) Yount, Caley Jill Yount, and Christa Jan Yount; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Kourtney; one brother, Donald Yount. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The service will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bradford Laubinger officiating. Interment will follow at Leadwood Cemetery.
