John Ellis Edgar

John Ellis Edgar, 73, of Bonne Terre passed away March 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 3, 1943 in Gumbo to the late Lawrence Edgar and Odessa (Ogle) Edgar – Denman.  John was also preceded in death by one sister, Reba Thomas and three brothers, Leroy, Robert and Larry Edgar. 

As a well-known welder in the Leadbelt, John really loved his work.  He was a retiree from Ozark Steel working there for 21 years and doing trade work in the area for more than 35 years.  Prior to his welding career, he served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966.  In his off time, he enjoyed farming, spending time on his tractor and time with his loving family. 

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherry (Snider) Edgar; three daughters, Kimberly (Brian) Scoggin, Kelly (Rick) LaBruyere both of Bonne Terre, and Stacey (Philip) Goggin of Park Hills; grandchildren, Garrett (Natasha) LaBruyere, Ashley and Whitney Gamblin, Tori LaBruyere, and Christian, Alli, Noah Goggin; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Jorian, and Piper; one sister, Norma Jean Whitt; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017, from 5 pm to 6 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge followed by a memorial service at 6 pm with Rev. William Bond officiating. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
