Joe Skaggs

Gunnery Sergeant Joseph F. Skaggs, 84, of Desloge, passed away December 7, 2020, at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. He was born April 24, 1936 in Illinois, to the late Paul and Alma Gertrude (Stapleton) Skaggs. Joe served his country in the United States Marine Corp., where he later retired.

Joe was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (White) Skaggs; three sons, Joseph Paul, Frederick James and Lawrence Alan Skaggs; brothers, Bobby, Raymond, David and George Skaggs; sisters, Mary, Debbie, Barbara Jean and Alice.

He is survived by three children, Malinda Bone and husband Eddie, Mary Sansom, Robert Skaggs and wife Tracy; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ida Charter and Tina Skaggs; many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre, with full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
