Jewell Wood

M. Jewell Wood, age 102, of Bonne Terre passed away October 26, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Humansville, MO. on November 28, 1911 to the late John and Nellie (Ayers) Robertson. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Wood. Mrs. Wood was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Bonne Terre. She was an educator having taught in several southwest Missouri schools, the Bonne Terre Elementary and later the Junior High. She finished out her career substitute teaching for several years after her retirement. Jewell was very active with the Bonne Terre Library and the Helping Hands. She was a former member of the Bonne Terre Hospital Auxiliary and Parkland Health Center Auxiliary. Mrs. Wood is survived by two sons, Howard (Rev. Marilyn) Wood of Bonne Terre, Donald (Jill Bryar) Wood of Wimberly, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa (Rodney) George of St. Louis, Heather Wood of St. Louis, Lesley (Fred) Schultze of Houston, TX., Nicole Wood of Bonne Terre, Fred (Jenny) Wood of Houston, TX.; great-grandchildren, Rachel Uskokovich, Alex Uskokovich, Kirsten Cash, Elizabeth Schultze, Grant Gornick, Blake Gornick, Juel Culver, Camilla Wood, Francesca Wood, Delphine Wood. Visitation will be Thursday October 30, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Funeral service will be 11 am Friday at the First Christian Church in Bonne Terre with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park.
