Jeannette "Jan" Julison passed away Monday morning, March 28, 2005, at the Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center, in Farmington, Missouri, following a long illness. Jan was born on June 29, 1953, in Geneva, Illinois, to Harold & Dolores Julison.

Jan attended Bishop Hogan High School in Kansas City, MO., & graduated from Notre Dame College in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1976. She was a member of the Order of the School Sisters of Notre Dame from 1976 through the late 1980's, & taught for several years at St. Peter/St.Cletus School in St. Charles, MO., & at St. Joseph's School in Farmington, MO., where she is still fondly remembered by former students & their parents. Jan also achieved a Degree of Master in Social Work from St. Louis University in 1985, & worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for Community Counseling Services in the Ste. Genevieve/Farmington/Perryville/Cape Girardeau, MO., area until 1993.

Jan was active & involved in the community around her. She was a board member & volunteer in the St. Francois Co., Chapter of the Humane Society. She also spent many hours volunteering for various women's shelters; family interventions; & at the Farmington Presbyterian Manor.

Known well for her musical talent, Jan began playing piano & clarinet when she was 8 years old. Among many other instruments, she taught herself trumpet & guitar & especially loved to play folk songs & classical guitar pieces.

Friends & family will also remember Jan for her love of learning, determination, quick wit & independent nature. We will remember her for her passions; for those whom she loved; for her dog, Blue; for sports - especially her beloved Cardinals & the Green Bay Packers; for reading anything she could get her hands on; & for her advocacy of children; animals & the underdog.

Jan was also known for her kindness & giving of herself to all those around her. She was tenacious & had a great sense of humor, something that continued throughout her years of dealing with her disease, Cerebral Vasculitis, be it through her beautiful smile, her hearty laugh, or an unmistakable twinkle in her eye. Through these traits, Jan helped her friends & family deal with her illness as well.
