Janet Faye Barton

Janet Faye (Landolt) Barton, age 76, of Bonne Terre, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at her residence.  She was born on Wednesday, August 4, 1943 in Bonne Terre to the late Harold and Loretta (Horn) Landolt. Janet was a member of the Bismarck United Methodist Church, a Tri Sigma sister at Murray State, and continually active in the Bonne Terre community. Janet dedicated over 50 years to education. Most of her teaching career was with the North County Schools and Mineral Area College. Janet impacted many lives as an educator. She cared about her students and many were like her children. Janet could not go anywhere without someone saying, “There’s Mrs. Barton.”

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Barton, and brother, Gene Landolt.

Janet is survived by her children, Lochie Counts and husband Josh, Matt Barton and wife Beth; seven grandchildren, Maddie, Sydney, Josie, Brett, Sophie, Lilly and Bailey; sister-in-law, Lochie Hart; several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved dog, Bitsey.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume 9 AM Friday, June 19, 2020 until service time of 11 AM at C. Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Bonne Terre with Rev. Rick Lasley officiating. Interment will follow at Bismarck Odd Fellows Cemetery.
