Mrs. Jane Loraine 'Kaase' Nixon passed away early Wednesday morning, October 3, 2012, at the San Remos Nursing Home, in Richardson, Texas, at the age of 91 years, 1 month & 2 days. Jane was born on September 1, 1921, in Austin, Texas, and was the daughter of Charles Frederick Kaase and Leona (nee Richter) Kaase.
Jane was raised with her 2 siblings in Austin, TX., where she remained until 1942. During her school years she was active in sports, softball and tennis. She also played the violin in the high school orchestra & in the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
Jane graduated from nurses' training at Seton Hospital, Austin, TX, in 1942. After graduation, she obtained a nursing position at a hospital in Nome, Alaska, where she met & married David O. Nixon, a Capt. in the Army who was stationed in Nome. Upon David's discharge in 1945, David & Jane moved to Chicago & later to Des Plaines, IL. In addition to the birth of 2 children, Donald Edward & Barbara Ellen, Jane served in various organizations like Women's Club & church. She also worked as a nurse for a local OBGYN doctor in Des Plaines.
Mr. & Mrs. Nixon retired to Bella Vista, AR, in 1975. Jane soon became involved with the local hospital volunteering her time in the ICU & being the hospital's nurse coordinator for hospice. She was the President of the Nine Hole Ladie's Golf Association & worked for the Bella Vista Community Church as a secretary for 20 years.
Jane was preceded-in-death by her husband, David O. Nixon; sister-in-law, Nancy Richey Plumb & brother-in-law, Charles Berg.
Survivors include: 1 son, Donald (& Jean) Nixon, of Richardson, TX; 1 daughter, Barbara (& Dr. Terry) Guiley, of Farmington. 1 sister, Dorothy Berg, of Longview, TX; 1 brother, Roy (& Marilyn) Kaase, of Austin, TX. 7 Grandchildren: Brett (& Shannon) Guiley; Erika 'Mrs. Zach' Sommermeyer; Grant (& Carissa) Guiley; Laurel 'Mrs. Nathan' Renschler; Brian (& Courtney) Nixon; Shaun Nixon and Sara Jane Nixon. Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews & friends.
