Jack L. Stegall, 84, of Desloge passed away November 2, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor. He was born October 13, 1929 in Bonne Terre to the late Elmer and Nellie (Totten) Stegall. Mr. Stegal was preceded in death by a special nephew, Carroll Allen; 5 sisters, Ruth Laws, Vera Stegall, Nita Rich, Theda Duncan, and his twin Jeanie Haley; also 3 brothers, Vernon Stegall, Linn Stegall, and Tommie Stegall.Jack retired after 33 years as a North County School Dist. (Desloge H. S.) custodian. He was also a basketball referee for 25 years and school bus driver for several of those years. Jack was a Korean War Veteran serving his country in the United State Army. He spent 33 months and 5 days in a POW camp. Jack was the recipient of two purple hearts and additional medals of merit. He was a member of the Desloge VFW and a member of the Church of Christ. Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosalie (Mabery) Stegall of Desloge; two daughters, Nancy (Dwight) Vermette of Barnhart, Kathy Stotler of Barnhart; one son, Tom (Beth) Stegall of St. Peters; grandchildren, Anna (Corey) Hammers, Daniel (Becky) Stegall, Josh Roberts, Justin Roberts, Gabe Roberts, Bryanne (Jordan) Jagust, Jonathon (Julie) Stotler, A.J. Stegall, Lexie Stegall, Allan (Stefanie) Vermette, Mandy (Andy) Thorne, Candy (Sean) Kent; great-grandchildren, Eli Behlke, and Emma Hammers. Also surviving is a special niece Jane Allen and family; a brother Larry Stegall along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive. Visitation will be Tuesday November 5, 2013 from 2 pm to 9 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Funeral service will be 10 am Wednesday at C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Desloge with Rev. Larry Mabery officiating. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to Presbyterian Hospice.
