Harry Bernard Wingerter, 96, of Ironton passed away on January 19, 2025. He was born January 22, 1928, in Longtown, Missouri to the late Joseph Kenrick and Elsie Barbara (Ochs) Wingerter. Harry proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II as a Tank Commander. During his service he received a World War II Victory Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal Japan. After the service he worked and later retired from the United Auto Workers Union #136 out of Fenton.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Virginia (Ryon) Wingerter; three siblings, Lillian Wingerter, Elmira Schwein, and Sylvester Wingerter.
Harry is survived by one brother, Joseph J. (Charlene) Wingerter; nephews, Kevin (Amy) Wingerter and Alan Akers; three great nephews, while several friends also survive.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Pastor Rocky Good will be officiating. Interment will be at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
