Harry Powell

Mr. Robert Harry Powell passed away early Sunday morning, February 24, 2013, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor at the age of 92 years, 9 months & 23 days. Harry was born on May 1, 1920, in Farmington, and was the son of Lewis H. Powell and Nettie E. 'Meyer' Powell. Also preceding-in-death were: his wife, Lois I. 'Fetty' Powell (Nov. 29, 2012); 2 sisters: Lola E. Ragsdale & Helen Bernice Larby; 2 brothers: Herbert A. Powell, in-infancy & Martin L. Powell.

Harry attended the Valley Forge School and graduated from Farmington High School in 1938. Harry met Lois at a USO dance in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, while he was stationed at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. Lois and Harry were married on August 3, 1945, in St. Louis. Harry was: * a 60+ year faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington; * a US ARMY, 2nd Infantry Division, Veteran of World War II, serving in 5 major battle campaigns, including the Invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach and The Battle of The Bulge ; * former owner/operator of Powell's Meat Locker Plant in Farmington; * former Realtor for Century 21 Real Estate in Farmington.

Survivors Include : 3 children - Robert E. "Bob" (& Bendi) Powell, of Terre du Lac; Gary L. (& Diane) Powell, of Fenton & Marsha E. (& John) Beulick, of St. Louis. 1 sister - Minnie A. Cowley, of Farmington. 5 grandchildren: Anne Powell (& husband, Jim Bollinger), of Seattle, WA; Bree (Mrs. Dr. Shane) Steiner, of Biloxi, MS; John Powell, of St. Louis; Nicholas & Elaine Beulick, of St. Louis. 2 great-grandchildren: Calleigh Steiner & Oliver James Bollinger. Also surviving are many Nieces & Nephews.

Visitation : Tuesday, 4-6 p.m.

Visitation Resumes : Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church

Funeral : Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., February 27, 2013

at : Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Hall officiating.

LeadBelt Patriot Guard Riders will lead Harry's funeral procession to Parkview Cemetery for burial with Full Military Honors.
