Gwen Helms

            Janice “Gwen” Helms, 77, of Desloge, passed away April 2, 2016 at her residence. She was born on November 9, 1938 in Bishop, California to the late Theodore “Ted” and Marcella (Richardson) Twomey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Twomey and Sheila Gayle Armor. Gwen enjoyed oil painting, antiquing, traveling and spending time with family, especially her granddaughters.  

            Gwen is survived by her husband, Karl Helms; two children, Cindy Helms and Karen Beck and husband Doug; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Sarah Beck all of Desloge; four sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Ivan) Wood of Decatur, IL., Phyllis Harris of Seneca, MO., Sherlyn Ann (Mrs. Toby) Tyler of Carterville, MO. and Sheryl Lynn (Mrs. Mark) Grooms of Joplin, MO.  

            Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Desloge with Rev. Ron Dane officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francois Memorial Park.
