Glenda Lois Tyner

Mrs. Glenda Lois 'Jones' Tyner passed away late Saturday morning, June 29, 2013, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor, at the age of 96 years, 9 months 28 days. Glenda was born on September 1, 1916, in Farmington, and was the daughter of Zeno Jones and Margaret 'Crawford' Jones. Glenda attended Farmington High School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1934.

Glenda met a young seminary student and later married Rev. Stanley Tyner in August 1946. Glenda returned to college, studying Theology, Government and History of the Presbyterian Church at McCormick Seminary, becoming "the typical underpaid pastor's wife." This was not a problem for Glenda as she had been a loyal Presbyterian since the age of 10 when she was baptized. Thru the years she worked in all phases of each church she and Stanley pastored, becoming more active with each congregation they served. She held jobs in both state and national offices. In 1977 she was one of the 60 chosen to go to the far-eastern countries of: Taiwan; Japan; Korea and The Phillipines. Glenda and Stanley enjoyed camping and camped everywhere - except Hawaii - in the 39 years of their marriage. This included Canada; Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. They even realized a life-long desire to visit The Holy Land; Egypt and Greece in 1982. Glenda joined Farmington Presbyterian Church and was awarded Clerk, serving 24 years. After Stanley's death, Glenda continued her traveling and visiting many countries.
