George S. Bangert age 92 of Bonne Terre passed away February 12, 2012 at Farmington Presbyterian Manor. He was born August 12, 1919 to the late George and Effie (Thurman) BangertAlso preceding him in death is his wife Ruth (Carlson) Bangert; two brothers, John Bangert and Edmond Bangert; three sisters Helen Hatcher, Roberta Hunt and Frances Yount.George is survived by five daughters, Marsha (William) Borchardt of St. Louis, Paula Lambrecht and special friend Sam McCord of Columbia, Mo., Vicki Mayerhoffer of Bonne Terre, Jane Emery of Bonne Terre, Susan (Carl) Edgar of Farmington; grandchildren, David Borchardt of Vernal, Utah, Michael Borchardt of Minneapolis, MN, Camile Edgar of St. Louis, Casie (Chris) Anderson of Waterloo, Illinois, Elizabeth (Ben) Cook of St. Charles, Kelly (Justin) Sadler of Belgrade, Kyle Mayerhoffer of Branson, Morgen Lambrecht Brooklyn, New York; great-grandchildren, Scout Sale, C.J., and Lydia Anderson, Wren Cook; brother, Harry Bangert of Upland Ca.; dear friend Mary Corum; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bangerts Professional career started in 1938 where he was a Sales Representative for Wetterau Foods, January 1942 George enlisted in the US Navy Air Force where he was part of the Special Task Air Force 1, after the navy George went back to work at Wetterau Foods, in 1949 George entered the investment business. Mr. Bangerts corporate and other business affiliations included past president and organizer of Community Services Corporation, past president and past treasurer of Bonne Terre Hospital Inc., past president and treasurer of BTH Foundation, past director on the Parkland Health Center board, Organizer and past president of Big River Hills Inc., past president of Beneficial Services Inc., co-organizer and past treasurer of Mineral Area College Foundation Inc., co-founder and managing partner of WBC Properties, and organizer and chairman of the Board for The Old Rectory Inc.George was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Bonne Terre Rotary Club, Charter Member of the Mineral Area Elks, served on the police board and the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Bonne Terre, held various offices for the Knights of Columbus including Grand Knight. Whether you called him Dad, Bunka, George or Mr. Bangert, when you called him, you could count on him.You would find him at daily mass, at a Rotary Meeting or a local community board meeting, giving his grandchildren hayrides at his beloved Big River Hills and spending Saturdays with his daughters. He was mother and father to his five daughters and they and his grandchildren will miss him deeply. His last words were to his family "I Love You".Visitation will be Wednesday February 15, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Funeral mass will be 11 am Thursday February 16, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. John Schneider officiating. Interment will be the St. Joseph Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Old St. Joseph Rectory, St. Joseph School or to Macular Degeneration Research.
