George Clinton Skaggs

George Clinton Skaggs, age 93, of Bonne Terre, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre, Missouri. He was born on August 31, 1924 to the late Doner Marshall and Nanny Katherine Marcella (Johnson) Skaggs. George was the oldest charter member of Valles Mines Worship Center. He was a part of the Teamsters local 682 and the VFW in Farmington. George also enjoyed mowing grass.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn (Pierce) Skaggs; second wife Henrietta (Howell) Skaggs; son Dwight Clinton Skaggs; daughter-in-law Julie L. (Price) Skaggs; brothers, Oscar Skaggs, Clarence Skaggs, Roscoe Skaggs, and Harold Ralph Skaggs.

George Clinton is survived by his children, Sally and husband Leonard Bess, Charlotte Faye and husband Leroy Brown, Shelby and husband Mike King, and George D. “Dwayne” Skaggs; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Raymond and wife Leona Skaggs, Bonnie and late husband Jimmy Carmack, Mamie and late husband Bill Davis, Hazel and husband Lindell Gowen, and John Paul and wife Bonnie Skaggs; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 5 PM to 9 PM in the chapel at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM with Bishop Darrin Brown assisted by Bishop Leroy Brown. Burial will follow at Germania cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.
