George Albert Leier

Mr. George Albert Leier passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center, Farmington, at the age of 91 years, 7 months & 25 days. George was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 2, 1918, and was the son of Albert Wendell Leier and Elizabeth 'Hoh' Leier. Also preceding in death was 1 Sister, Margaret Leier.

George was a US NAVY Veteran of World War II. He was the receipient of: * the Asiatic Pacific Medal; * the Victory Medal; * the American Theatre Medal & * the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. George was the founder of the Lakewood Senior Golf Club and founder of the George Leier Lakewood Senior Golf Tournament (now celebrating its 23rd year). George did volunteer work at the Lakewood Medical Center for 14 years.

Survivors Include: his wife, Clara Theresa 'Bedford' Leier, of Farmington. 3 children: Margaret 'Mrs. Ronald' Bone, of Dacona, CO; Robert Leier, of Belleville, IL & Linda 'Mrs. Howard' Davis, of Farmington. 1 Sister, Ida Petrillo, of Rutherford, NJ; 2 Brothers: Wendell Leier, of Rutherford, NJ & Albert Leier, of Newark, NJ. Also surviving are 6 Grandchildren & 8 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation: Sunday, 5-8 p.m., with Rosary @ 7:00 p.m. Visitation resumes Monday, 6:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Funeral Mass : Monday, 10:00 a.m., March 1, 2010

at : St. Joseph Catholic Church, Farmington, with Fr. James Dyer officiating.

Interment : (tentatively scheduled) Monday, 1:00 p.m., at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis Co., MO.
