Gene Blackwell

Sylvester Eugene "Gene" Blackwell, 84 of Bonne Terre passed away October 28, 2015 at Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto. He was born February 5, 1931 in Stoney Point to the late James Sylvester and Florence (Glore) Blackwell. Gene had recently retired from his lifelong craft of carpentry. He was a member of the Pleasant View Assembly of God. In addition to his parents, Gene has been reunited in death with three brothers, Louie Ray Blackwell, William Wesley Blackwell and Alford Blackwell; five sisters, Della Mae Jarvis, Naoma Lockhart, Edna Politte, Emma Blackwell and Mary Blackwell. Gene is loved and will be deeply missed by his family who remain; wife, Viola (Hutson) Blackwell; daughter, Kathy Rolens; three grandchildren, Tina (Buck) Barks, Christopher (Jannevive) Perdue, Angela (Timothy) Zolman; great-grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Kelsey Barks, Kaitlyn Davis, Kristyn and Andrew Perdue, Elijah and Lily Grace Zolman; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Faye (Lynn) Marler. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Service will be Friday at 1:00 PM at the C. Z.
