Gary W. Sherrill, 68 of Bonne Terre, passed away June 3, 2012 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1943 in Flat River to the late Alfred C. and Edna Mae Kennon Sherrill. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Lori in her infancy. Mr. Sherrill began working for the Missouri State Highway Dept. when he was 18 where he learned his trade of surveying. Shortly thereafter he entered the Army where he was utilized as a surveyor during the construction of the barricades along the D. M. Z. line that separated North and South Korea. After serving his two years, he returned to his former employer, (MoDOT), once again as a surveyor until his retirement 35 years later. Gary was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.Mr. Sherrill is survived by his Wife Marianna (Head) Sherrill of Bonne Terre; daughter Tracy, Mrs. Jeff Allison of Herculaneum; a son John Sherrill and wife Deborah of Park Hills; 5 grandchildren ?? Alyssa, Cole and Eli Allison: Adele & Myra Sherrill; two sisters Anna Jean Blackwell of Park Hills and Donna Mae, Mrs. Russell Dwayne Watkins of Webster Groves; one brother Dave Sherrill & wife Judy of Bonne Terre, his Mother in Law Elva Head of Bonne Terre. In addition there are a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives along with many close friends who will mourn his passing. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 5, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 6 at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Chapel. Interment will follow at the St. Francois Memorial Park. Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Soc. "Hope Lodge" of St. Louis or to Preferred Hospice.
