Fred Allen Mayse

Mr. Fred Allen Mayse passed away early Monday morning, May 18, 2015, at the Arbors at Maplebrook, in Farmington, at the age of 85 years, 7 months & 25 days. Fred was born on September 23, 1929, in Batesville, Arkansas, and was the son of Everett W. Mayse & Rena May 'Shoemaker' Mayse. He served his country proudly from 1944 -to- 1946 in the Occupational Forces, stationed in Italy. He was in the first group activated for service from the Tennessee National Guard in the Korean Conflict, where he served for one year.

He married Florence Crawford Mayse in Memphis, Tennessee, on November 29, 1951, and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past November. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Lisa Ann and Lynda Faye. Fred graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1957, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career as an engineer with Monsanto Company in St. Louis, MO., in 1958, retiring in 1986. Following his official retirement, he continued to work in the field of engineering as a consultant/salesman for PC&E Incorporated for nearly 10 years. Fred was a longtime, faithful member of Farmington First Baptist Church. Fred was a founding member of the St. Louis Chapter of The Instrument Society of America and member, the LePere-McCallister American Legion Post #416 of Farmington.

He was preceded-in-death by his parents; his brothers, Everett and Marion Mayse and sister, Hazel Fike. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Tillie) Mayse; sister, Shirley Mayse (& Richard) Lockwood, of Pearland, Texas; daughters, Lisa (Ray) Eberle-Mayse, of St. Louis, and Lynda (Michael) Maksin, of Lees Summit, MO; six grandchildren: Anna, Leanne, Daniel, Mac, David and Sarah Beth; and two great-grandchildren: Dutch and Sydney Faye, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Fred had many interests in life. Chief among them was his church, Farmington First Baptist Church, where he was an active member serving as Bible teacher and deacon among other roles for many years. He treasured his family and the time he spent with them. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father. Fred enjoyed many hobbies - hunting, fishing, golf, collecting HO gauge model trains, and working in his machine shop building model steam engines.

Fred will be missed greatly by his family and friends, but they rejoice in the sure knowledge that he is at home with his heavenly father.
