Florence Green

Florence (Richards) Green passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the age of 98. She was born on December 20, 1915 in Washington County to the late Samuel M. and Martha F. (Kirkpatrick) Richards. Due to the illness of her mother, Florence was raise from the age of 18 months old in the home of her aunt and uncle, the late Robert T. and Lucy (Kirkpatrick) Womack in the Lead Belt area. She attended Desloge and Flat River schools, graduating in the 1933 class of Flat River High School. She was married on May 16, 1943 to the love of her life, Myrtland J. Green, who preceded her in death on October 15, 1995. Together they owned and operated Greens Drug Store in Desloge for 31 years, retiring in 1977. Mrs. Green was a member of the Desloge United Methodist Church since 1949, having served as financial secretary from 1957 until 2011.Florence is also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, their families and her many friends in Desloge.Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The service will be held in the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 27, 2013. Interment will follow immediately at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Park Hills. Memorials may be given to Desloge Methodist Church or Odd Fellows Cemetery in Park Hills.
