Eugene "Gene" C. Burch

Mr. Eugene "Gene" C. Burch passed away Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014, at his Farmington residence at the age of 80 years, 9 months & 6 days. Gene was born on January 15, 1934, in Leadwood, and was the son of John Burch and Grace 'McClain' Burch. Also preceding-in-death were: his wife, Vernetta Joann 'Babb' Burch (March 24, 2013); a sister, Alma Henderson and a brother, Leeman Burch.

Gene was a member and former Sunday School Teacher at Farmington Church of God (Carleton Street). Gene's church was a big part of his life and he had a great love for his church family. Gene was a fan-favorite in his red-and-white #2 car. Gene had 100+ feature wins in his racing career. The Burch family would like to pay tribute to some of Gene's friends and fellow competitors: Jim Knox, Jack Long, Gene "Tubby" Black, Junior Giles, Donnie Klein, Ken Buckley, Bernell Pulley, Dale Resinger, Kenny Slade and Dean Adams, Sr.

Survivors Include: 2 sons - Tom (& Mary Ann) Burch, of Farmington; Kenny (& Teresa) Burch, of Farmington. 5 sisters: Julie Atchison; Mary Asher and Norma Hollinger, all of California, and Hilda Barron, of Frankclay; Georgia Kitchell, of Irondale. 3 brothers - Leon Burch, of Iron Mountain Lake; Randell Burch, of Desloge & Jerry Burch, of Farmington. 7 grandchildren: Kristee (& John) Bloom; Keith (& Casey) Burch; Kenny (& Stephanie) Burch, Jr.; Ami Jo Burch; Kimberley Ramsey; Kasey Burch (& Dee Dee McDaniel), and Kelly Burch. 10 great-grandchildren: Kayleigh; Jewell; Amaya; Keegan; Ty; Lindsay; Brody; Quinton; Kody & Klarissa.

Visitation : Thursday, 5-8 p.m. Visitation resumes, Friday @ 6:30 a.m.

Funeral : Friday, 11:00 a.m., October 24, 2014

at : TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Rev. Shannon Skinner officiating

Interment follows at : Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington
