Emmett Joel "Red" Hurt age 79 of Farmington passed away January 21, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1932 in Palestine, Arkansas to the late Emmett J and Hazel G Hurt Walbrecht. Also preceding him in death is a daughter Ellen Sweet; sister Edna Klian; grandson, Dakota Adams.Red was a General Motors Retiree. He was also very active with the U.A.W., where he served as chairman and other key positions. Red served his country with the United States Army, he was stationed out of Alaska during the Korean War Era.Emmett is survived by his wife Dorothy Marion Hurt; children, Glenda and husband Daniel Boone, Mary Melissa "Missy" and husband Thomas Brown, Katherine "Kitty" and husband Mark Rolens, Angela Adams and fiance Ronald Sulik, Matthew J. Hurt and fiance Roxann Banta, Belinda and husband Brad Shelly, Mike Feeler and wife Jeannie, James Feeler and wife Tammy; son-in-law Dennis Sweet; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William F. Hurt, and Bobby J. Hurt.Visitation will be Monday January 23, 2012 from 5 to 9 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Service will be Tuesday at 2 pm at the C.Z. Boyer Chapel in Desloge with Pastor Rocky Good officiating. Interment will be at the Leadwood Cemetery.
