Elder John Earl Brown

John Earl Brown, 86, of Leadwood, passed away peacefully, May 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born April 22, 1938, in Gibson, TN, to the late John Herman and Ruth Earlene (Bogle) Brown.  John was a member of the Stony Point Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved mission work, especially on foreign soil.  John was the pastor of several churches, through the years, in Jefferson, St. Louis and St. Francois Counties.  He worked at Barnes Jewish Hospital as a Plant Manager until retiring after 44 years of dedicated service.  

 He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Raymond Brown; bonus son, John Ernest Handlang; brother, Joe Don Brown. 

 

John is survived by his wife of 65 years, JoAnn (Worley) Brown; two children, Tammy Guggenberger and husband Joe, Kevin Brown and wife Monica; bonus son and daughter, Roy Brakefield and wife Althea and their family; six grandchildren, Joe (Monica) Guggenberger II, Sydni (Dustin) Dowd, Kristian Brown, Nicholas (Therese Kulas) Brown, Noah (Laura Serier) Brown and Mackenzie Brown; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Dowd, Grant, Austin and Miles Guggenberger, Isaac and Lucy Dowd; bonus great-grandchild, Kevin Gray; three sisters, Ruby Nell (Doyle) Conder, Wonnie Watt and Delilah Hand; sister in-law, Carol Brown; precious friends, Rainy, Becky and Shirley; along with several nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and special work family from Barnes Jewish Hospital.

 

A special thank you to Dr. John Ellena, who is not only our medical doctor, but our very precious friend “Luv You Kid” and to our church family who are very dear to our hearts. 

 

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, May 24, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  The visitation will resume Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Stony Point Missionary Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until the service time of noon.  Rev. Kevin Brown, Elder Claude Evans and Elder Roy Brakefield will be officiating.  Entombment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or TBN Israel at www.tbnisrael.com
