Edwin "Dag" Copeland

Edwin “Dag” Copeland, 87, of Desloge passed away September 4, 2016. He was born July 24, 1929 in Salem to the late Cyrus and Birtia (Cavender) Copeland. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. Copeland and three brothers, Leroy Copeland, Clyde Copeland and in infancy Charles Copeland.
Dag was member of the Cantwell Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Elvins Ionic Masonic Lodge. He proudly served with the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran.  For 20 years Dag was the former owner/operator of Copeland’s Service Station. He was well known for his welding skills and in his later years, he enjoyed being a cattleman and spending time with his family.
Dag is survived by his wife Lavena (Casey) Copeland; daughters, Linda (Mike) Conway, Tammy (Tim) Crites; ten grandchildren, Cody Conway, Ambyr Lay and David, Casey Richardson, Jessica (Pat) Gegg, Duane (Robin) Patt, Dusty (Heather) Crites, Temple (Jared) Monroe,  Lisa (Danny) Nauke, Staurla (Randy) Waun, Scott (Brandy) Crites; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, William (Barb) Copeland; sisters, Cora Sue (Stanton) LaPlant, Mary Lee Mounce; special nephews, Billy and Aaron Copeland; several other family members and a host of friends also survive.

Visitation will be Thursday September 8, 2016 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Funeral will be 11 am Friday at the C.Z. Boyer Son Chapel with Rev. Bob Price officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Camp Hope.
