Mrs. Edith Y. Smith passed away at Parkland Health Center, South, Farmington, on September 25, 2001. Mrs. Smith, who was married to the late Hasca B. Smith, was a resident of The Baptist Home in Ironton. She was born in Doe Run, Missouri, October 23, 1909. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Judith Sutton & her husband, Tom, of Chesterfield, Missouri; Julie Boltz & her husband, Nick, of Austin, Texas; Step-Son, Byron Eugene Smith, of Park Hills, Missouri; 2 Grandsons: David Polk, of Garfield, Texas; & Andrew Polk, of New Braunfels, Texas; 2 Step Granddaughters: Karron Murphy, of Jacksonville, Illinois; & Sharron Pettus of Wellington, Florida; 7 Great-Grandchildren & 3 Great, Great-Grandchildren. Other family members are her nieces: June Horn of Crestwood, Missouri; & Martha Laws of New Haven, Missouri. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 1 sister, Mrs. Pearl Ragsdale & a granddaughter, Jennifer Polk. Mrs. Smith was a member of 1st Baptist Church, Farmington for many years, but at the time of her death was a member of Hanley Road Church, Clayton, Missouri. She lived in Texas for several years, but in 1997, moved to live in St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services were held: Friday, 10:30 am, September 28, 2001, at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, Farmington, with Rev. Slade Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Grove Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
