Doyle Leonard Speer

Doyle Leonard Speer, passed away peacefully in his home, beside his loving wife of 69 years. The two came from large families and married, in the town they both grew up in. Born on February 19, 1935, in Advance, Missouri, to the late Oscar and Thelma (Virgin) Speer. Doyle retired from the auto workers union, and moved from DeSoto, to Fredericktown, then later to Farmington, Missouri. 

Doyle was the beloved, father of four children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was active in church, reading his Bible every day. He attended Calvary Temple in Fredericktown most of his life and then moved to Farmington where he attended First Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his passion of teaching his family and friends the Bible, he had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening with the love of his life, Lena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Virgil, Hershel, Hassel and Sonny Speer; four sisters, Lillian (Bagbey), Beatrice (Hindman), Rita (Blanton), Maxine (Shell) Speer; and too soon, his sweet daughter, Theresa (Poindexter-Halpin) Speer and great-granddaughter, Zemriya Bright. 

Doyle is survived by his loving wife, Lena (Talley) Speer; three children, Pamela Click, Stephen Speer and Timothy (Jacquie) Speer; grandchildren, Eric Click, Amy (Jason) Bright, Sarah (Levi) Johnson, and Heather Quiles Click, T.J. (Riley) Speer, Christian Speer, Pat (Tracy) Poindexter; great-grandchildren, Tommy Joe and Levi Poindexter, Yed, Micha, Noah, and Nate Bright, Avaya Nicken, Maryn, Haislee and Isabell Speer, Claire Johnson; one sister, Wanda (Null) Speer.

A private service was held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Farmington with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating. A private interment followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
