Doyle S. McFarland, 84 of Desloge passed away May 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born November 25, 1930 to the late Charles and Gladys (Downard) McFarland. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Laura McFarland and (stillborn) Kathryn McFarland; sister, Dorothy Russell; two brothers, Kenneth McFarland and Bob McFarland. Mr. McFarland was a member of the First Baptist Church of Desloge. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, obtaining the rank of sergeant. Mr. McFarland received his Master's Degree in Theology. Following that he was able to pursue his bi-vocational careers as a public school teacher and served as a local pastor for several churches. Doyle is survived by his wife, Rita (Townsend) McFarland; son, Paul (Christine) McFarland of O'Fallon; one granddaughter, Kealy Grace McFarland. Visitation will be Tuesday 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning at 9 am at the First Baptist Church until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Bradford Laubinger and Rev. Doug Elders officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church Family Ministry Center in Desloge.
