Doyle Light, 86, of Desloge, passed away February 20, 2018 at Mercy Jefferson in Festus. He was born April 27, 1931, in Desloge, to the late Fred and Thelma (Mahurin) Light. Doyle retired from Metal Container Corp. / Anheuser Busch in 1994, and was a member of Mineral Area Elks. He served his country in the United States Army. Doyle loved to sit around and reminisce, travel to his favorite places such as The Smoky Mountains and out west. Hunting and fishing were a huge part of his life. He also enjoyed pickin a guitar, singing and reading. Family and friends meant a lot to him as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jacqueline (Marin) Light; two sisters, Ruby Wunsch and Wilma McCoy.
Doyle is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Bloom) Light; two sons: Rick Light and wife Jenny, Barry “Bo” Light and wife Sheila; step-daughter, Jeanetta Dalton and husband Mike; grandson, Shawn Light and girlfriend Courtney Hawkins; three granddaughters, Lori Light, Mallory “Stormy” Dalton and Fiance Jason King, Lindsey Theobald and husband Keith; two adorable great-grandsons; mother-in-law, Inez Bloom; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will resume in the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Friday, February, 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Dennis Conway will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre with full military honors.
