With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Lynn Holliday, 63, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Dorothy was born on Tuesday, May 30, 1961. Dorothy proudly served her country in the United States Army.
She brought joy and happiness to those around her with her love for bingo, gambling, music, and dancing. Her vibrant spirit was infectious, and she cherished simple moments like watching game shows, tv shows like Gun Smoke and western movies. People-watching, and being on the go was prevalent as well in her life.
Dorothy's love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for fishing and riding around with her husband. But above all, her devotion to her family was paramount in her life. She found solace and happiness in spending quality time with her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hershel Medford and Hattie Marie (Pullen) Hawkins; siblings, Charles John McGee II, Cheryl Ellis and Lisa Wolff; In-laws, Bud Holliday and Dorothy Napire.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Robert Holliday; children, Shanna Hawkins, Joel Hershel Hawkins and wife Cherish, Jodi Abney and husband Darrell, daughter in-law, Marilyn; five grandchildren, Malcolm Hawkins, Alyssa Blackwell, Kelcie Clark, Ashley Hawkins and Ayla Hawkins; siblings, Becki Johnson and husband Joe, Kathy Dane and Monte Hawkins and wife Melanie; uncle Chester Pullen and wife Nita; along with other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Bonne Terre on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. until service time of 12:00 P.M. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Adams Hillcrest Cemetery in Bonne Terre, with military honors.
