Doris Compton, age 92, of St. Joe Manor, died March 26, 2017. She was born April 8, 1924 in Bonne Terre to the late James William and Gertrude Thornton Stotler of Bonne Terre. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Carl “Mutt”, Bernard “Ted”, Harry Joseph, Wilfred “Shorty”, and Robert “Carney” Stotler; sisters, Ruby Bennett, and Helen Dearing; first husband, Norman Compton, and second husband Charles Tucker.
She is survived by her seven children, Tom G. (Libbi) Compton of Hartsville, Tn., William O. (Ethel) Compton of McEwen, TN., Harry Compton of Hurricane Mills, TN., Barbara (Jerry) Dobbins of Whites Creek, TN., Richard (Pamela) Compton of Portland, TN., John Compton of Clarksville, TN., Jimmy Compton of Nashville, TN.; 32 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Stotler; sister, Paula Madeline Johnston of Pekin, IL.; and many nieces and nephews living in the Leadbelt area.
Visitation will be held Tuesday March 28, 2017 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Funeral will be 1 pm Wednesday at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home with Chaplain Josh Burgard officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to “A Friends Place”, P.O.
