Denny Smith, 88, of Park Hills passed away October 18, 2017. He was born on January 5, 1929 in Leadwood to the late Denny Monroe and Jennie (Cooksey) Smith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his six brothers, Reuben, Edward, Glenn, Herb, Mike and Marvin; two sisters, Pearl Mae Conway and Louise Huitt; mother and father-in-law, John and Viola (Phillips) Bess.
Denny proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Park Hills, a 50+ member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Missouri Western Quarter Horse Association. Denny was a local Prudential Insurance Agent who never missed a day of work in his 30+ years of service due to illness.
Denny is survived by his wife, Betty Lou (Bess) Smith; three daughters, Myra Kaye Shipp and husband Jack, Rebecca Marie Noble and husband Steve, Sandy “Sam” Nickelson; seven grandchildren, Jaime Shipp, Jacklyn Treece and husband Joe, Jennifer Mallinson and husband Jason, Brenna Noble, Doug Noble, Sam Nickelson and Kyleigh; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews are left to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Visitation will resume on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Park Hills until the service time at 2 pm with Rev. Curt Gwartney officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be directed to the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Association or Heart & Soul Hospice.
