David Lee Payne

 David Lee Payne, age 70, of Park Hills, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at his residence.  He was born on Sunday, August 12, 1951, in Weingarten to the late Mierlan Goodall and Thelma Irene (Wilson) Payne. 

 David was a General Manager with Ford Steel Company and retired with over 30 years of service. But his love of customer service found him working part-time with ACE Hardware and Walmart after retiring.  He was a member of United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL, where he served on their governing board and sang in the choir. He was, also, a member of the Lions Club in Highland, IL. David loved woodworking and was known to make many pieces of furniture or decorations.  His favorite project was art boxes that he gave to any kid he met.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Patty. Their goal was to visit every state. 

 David was preceded in death by his parents, spouses, Sandra Kay Payne and Patricia Payne; brothers, Lanny Payne and Oliver Payne.

 He is survived by his children, Jennifer Bullis and Adam Wilson, Julie Lemond and husband Robert, Tracy Gombos and husband Tim, Kelli Hanebrink and husband Adam; ten grandchildren, Ashley, Madysen, Aidan, Haylie, Paris, Emma, Hunter G., Genevieve, Hunter W. and Graysen; siblings, Mierlan Payne and wife Louise, Barbara Mays, Shirley Lievsay, Patricia Bauman and husband Robert, Mary Byrd, John Payne and wife Carol, Woodrow Payne and wife Patricia along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 10:00 at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. with Pastor Tim DePaul officiating. Family requests donations made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
