Clarence "JR" King, Jr.

Clarence “JR” King, 77, of Desloge, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 3, 1947, in Arcadia to the late Clarence Herbert and Ora King, JR was a devoted father to his children, Cynthia Schriver and husband Terry, Stephen King, Mark King and wife Christina. He also leaves behind cherished memories with his grandchildren, Stephen King Jr., Kevin King, Mark (Mollie) King, Jr., Nathan King, Zachary (Morgan) Schriver and Jacob (Amanda) Schriver; great-grandchildren, Bennett King and Kennedy Schriver; three sisters, Carroll Gray, Debra King, Lorna Snyder; one brother, Luke King and wife Linda along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, JR was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell King and four sisters, Marcella Lovins, Norma Decker, Ruby Garland and Nora McCain.

After retiring from Mohawk Industries in Earth City, where he served as their shipping and receiving clerk for flooring, JR enjoyed going to classic car shows where he admired Chevy’s. JR honorably served his country in the United States Marines, during the Vietnam War.  Enlisting on July 21, 1966, and achieving the rank of Corporal before being discharged on July 19, 1968. His dedication to his country was just one aspect of his strong character.

Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Polk Cemetery in Arcadia, Missouri. The procession will leave from C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge around 9:45 AM. Anyone who would like to join the family is more than welcome. Arrangements are under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge.  Memorials may be directed to the VVA of St. Louis (Vietnam Veterans of America).
