Christopher Reetz

Christopher Reetz, age 74 of Terre Du Lac passed away May 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1940 in St. Louis to the late Rev. Paul Rudolph and Ricka (Klein) Reetz. Mr. Reetz had a passion for photography and a passion for helping others in our community. Christopher attended the famous Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. He opened Christopher Reetz Photography in Bonne Terre. After 25 years Christopher retired from photography. He then obtain a bachelor's degree from South East Missouri State University and a Master's from St. Louis University graduating from both schools with high honors. His degrees led him to social work, mainly in the health care industry. Christopher started his second career with South East Missouri Mental Health. He later went on be the first social worker for HospiceCare Inc. now known as Serenity Hospice. With HospiceCare Inc. he was instrumental in the development of the social services department at Serenity. After HospiceCare Inc., he worked for The Baptist Home until his retirement in 2010. Christopher was very active with Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, where he served as church council president. He was a founding member of the St. Paul Lutheran High School Board in Farmington. He was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge where he was one of the developers of the scholarship fund to help local students. Christopher will be remembered as the photographer that photographed countless special memories for area families and he will also be remembered as a pioneer in social work for our area. He will be greatly missed by many. Christopher is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth (Helmke) Reetz; one son, Paul Raymond (Lesley Ann Ford) Reetz of Cape Girardeau; grandson, Hilton Christopher Reetz. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, May 24, 2015 from 1:00 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills with Rev. Tristan Engle officiating.
