Charles Willard Skaggs

Charles W. Skaggs, 87, of Bonne Terre passed away May 30, 2012 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center surrounded by all of his loved ones. Charles was born February 25, 1925 in Bonne Terre to the late Willard and Neosia (Jennings) Skaggs. Also preceding him in death was a brother Orville Skaggs; two sisters Amalee Pettus and Kathryn Hulvey. Charles was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the European Theater during World War II. Charles was employed by the St. Joe Lead Company, retiring from the Pea Ridge Mines. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty (House) Skaggs; son, Rick and wife Betty Skaggs of Bonne Terre; grandson, Cory and wife Anita Skaggs; beloved great-granddaughter, Isabelle Skaggs; special nieces and nephews, Steve and Charlotte Stegall, Steven and Kerri Stegall, Gary and Tracy Rhodes, Dustin, Drew, Gavin and Bailey; brother, Cleo (Marilyn) Skaggs; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2012 from 5 to 9 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Service will be 11 am Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the C.Z. Boyer &Son Chapel in Bonne Terre with Rev. Michael Kelpe officiating. Interment will follow at the Bonne Terre Cemetery with full military honors.
