Charles Burt, 73, of Bonne Terre, passed away March 8, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis. He was born May 3, 1944, in Gumbo, to Paul Burt and Dorothy (Prather) Gibson. Charles attended New Path in Delassus. He was a 50 year member of Elvins Ionic Lodge, a member of Moolah, ECMO Shrine Club, and York Rite. His passion was music, rhythm guitar, singing and dancing with his high school sweetheart, Georgia. He played for 50 years and was a member of the Sherriff’s Band. Charles worked several years at Burts Pump and Supply, then later moved to Valley Minerals and retired from Lead Belt Materials.
He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Murlin Burt; and stepfather, Lavon Gibson.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgia (Cooper) Burt; children, Chuck Burt and fiancé Natalie Smith of DeSoto, Steve Burt and wife Dianna of Desloge, and Melanie Kater of Bonne Terre; grandchildren, Dan (Kayla) Burt, Jace Burt, Kyle (Sarah) Burt, Anjel (Josh) Johnson, Dylan Kater, and Landon Kater; great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Paisley, and Guinevere; mother, Dorothy Gibson; siblings, Rodney (Luisa) Burt, Linda Paulette (Paul) Moser, Rosemary (Charles) Barcliff.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Masonic Service to follow. The service will be held in the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Petty officiating. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery in Frankclay. Memorials may be directed to the St. Francois County Relay For Life.
