Carolyn M. Straughn

Carolyn Marie Straughn, 87, of Bonne Terre passed away March 1, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Desloge. She was born July 16, 1929 in Bonne Terre. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bonne Terre. Carolyn retired from the North County School District where she worked as a cook at the Bonne Terre Elementary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelbert and Iva Jane (Cash) Pratte; husband, Vernon E. Straughn; son, Wayne Straughn; brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Linda Pratte; sister, Naomi Porter; special family member, Bonita Morris; special friend, Laura Howlett.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Jane (Kenny) Rasnic; son, Wesley (Belinda) Straughn; two grandsons, Jacob (Kassi) Black and Benjamin Straughn; two great-grandchildren; Elijah and Ellie Black.

Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume Saturday at 9:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Bonne Terre with the service to begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Russell Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
