Carol Elaine Winkler, 71, of Park Hills entered the presence of her savior on August 30, 2023. She was born January 13, 1952, in MO to the late John and Martha (Hedrick) Lucas. Carol loved sharing recipes, feeding the masses, and loving strangers. Her biscuits have healed many broken hearts. She expressed her love of Jesus through her musical gifts: songwriting, singing, playing, and teaching multiple instruments. Carol also co-wrote music and lyrics with others from various countries. She used every opportunity to encourage people and spread the Gospel. Carol was also a talented artist who relished trying new mediums. Through social media, she intentionally empowered others to pursue their own passions. Her humility and selflessness made her approachable so that God would be glorified.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son Richard Winkler; four sisters, Betty Emily, Elsie Bequette, Maxine Gordon, and Hazel Spruell; four brothers, Ronald Lucas, John Lucas, Gilbert Lucas, and Billy Lucas.
Carol is survived by her husband, Gary Paul Winkler; three children, Gary L. Winkler and wife Jerusha, Kimberly Huff and husband Cary, Gus Winkler and wife Erica; five grandchildren, Jade Winkler, Legacy (Brady) Robinson, Garrett (Kaitlyn) Winkler, Macie Winkler, and Jackson Winkler; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Angela (Larry) Todaro; and two brothers, Randy Lucas and David Lucas. Several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of a memorial service at 11:00 am at the Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church in Park Hills with Pastor Ron McRaven and her son, Gary L. Winkler officiating. A reception will follow at the church until 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either Serenity Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge.
