Carol Dunn

Carol (Bruce) Dunn, age 83, of Park Hills, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Festus. She was born on Saturday, November 9, 1940, in Flat River to the late Fred and Ruby (Denman) Bruce. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy McCary and husband Ron.

After high school, Carol attended Flat River Junior College and went on to graduate from Washington University with her bachelor’s degree in education. She taught at various school districts and ended her career in the Central School District where taught sixth grade reading. Carol spent 20 years in education shaping the lives of many students.

Carol is survived by her high school sweetheart of 63 years, Lloyd Dunn; son, Bruce Dunn; daughter, Andrea Reeves and husband Mark; grandchildren, Olivia Dunn and Brett Reeves; great-granddaughter, Sophia Reeves; siblings, Kevin Bruce and wife Pam, Tara Johnson and husband Kevin along with nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Carol was a member of First United Methodist Church in Park Hills where she was active in many women’s organizations, the Beta Sigma Phi and several book clubs in the area. For over 40 years Carol and Lloyd spent time at their favorite vacation spot Bull Shoals Lake where you could find her in her chair reading while Lloyd spent time fishing.  

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM until service time of 12:00 Noon at First United Methodist Church in Park Hills with Pastor Cindy Sadler officiating. Burial to follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorials in memory of Carol, can be made to First United Methodist Church in Park Hills.
