It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl L. Smith, age 82, who left this world peacefully on January 7, 2025, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Farmington. Born on October 6, 1942, in Madison County to the late Rev. Homer Leroy and Dorothy (Meyers) Smith, Carl was a cherished member of his community, known for his kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Carl was a devoted member of the Iron Mountain Assembly and Abundant Life Church, where he found strength and solace in his faith. He had a passion for the great outdoors, often spending cherished moments hunting and fishing. His beloved bass boat, a source of many happy memories, was a testament to his love for fishing. Additionally, Carl had a soft spot for nature, often seen joyfully feeding the wildlife that visited his yard. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Carl held a special place in his heart for the St. Louis Cardinals and Notre Dame Soccer, and his spirit will undoubtedly remain a part of every game that follows. His laughter and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
