Bill Ingley

Bill Ingley, age 93, passed away on October 21, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 17, 1927 in Kaufman, Texas to Archie and Ethel Ingley.

Bill was raised in Terrell, Texas where he had many interesting childhood jobs and was quarterback of his highschool football team.

Bill was very proud to be an Aggie. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1948.

He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. Bill was stationed in the Phillipines and abbord an LST.

Bill married Bettie Jean Pickett on January 10, 1953 and the couple had two children. Bill and Bettie moved about Texas during Bill's 37 year career with Southwestern Bell/AT&T.  

Bill had many interests and hobbies. He and Bettie purchased some acerage after his retirement and Bill enjoyed many hours of farming cattle and mending fences. He wrote short stories and poetry, entering some of his creations in local contests. Bill worked hard to stay fit physically and mentally. He took classes at the community college and walked the treadmill. Bill and Bettie enjoyed traveling and watching horse races. But his favorite pastime was being "Popsie" to his 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Some of Bill's memberships and volunteer work included Lion's Club, Kiwanas, Rotary Club, V.F.W., American Legion, Director of Chamber of Commerce.

Bill is preceded in death by son William Brian (Bill) Ingley, sister Mary Alice Darst, brother Marvin Ingley, parents Archie and Ethel Ingley.

Bill is survied by wife of 67 years Bettie, daughter Jeanne Boyer, husband Chuck, grandchildren Brian Boyer, Sarah Wolfe and husband Scott, Rachel Davis and husband Rob, and Valery Treida and husband Matt, great grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Reagan, Josie, Owen, Reese, Theo, Elle, and Nolan.

Bill lived his life by the Aggie core values; Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, Respect, and Selfless Service. He will be missed.
