Betty Leirer, 85 of Desloge, passed away June 2, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones, at Country Meadows, in Park Hills. She was born September 14, 1929 in Sikeston, to the late Asa Franklin and Opal Irene (Shaver) Edwards. Betty retired from teaching after 28 years, in the Lindbergh School District, and she was a member of First Baptist Church in Desloge, Eastern Star, past matron of Pomegranate #397, and Mineral Area #260. She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Leon Leirer; and sister in-law, Virginia Edwards. Betty is survived by three children, David Leirer and wife Beverly, Melisa Herrington of Desloge, and Suzanne Null of DeSoto; seven grandchildren, Paige (Tim) Hensley, Ashley (Jeff) Jones, Rachel (Jake) Martin, Victoria Null, Erik (Kristin) Null, Brenna (Gary) Spisak, Brandon Herrington; eleven great-grandchildren; and brother, Dr. Gerald F. Edwards. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 PM. The service will be held in the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bradford Laubinger officiating. A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10:15 AM, with Rev. Gene Howell officiating.
