Bert R. Boyer, 83 of Leadwood passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. He was born February 21, 1930 in Leadwood to the late Bert L. and Thelma (Robinson) Boyer. Also preceding him in death were his sister, Thelma DeClue and brother, Rev. Bill Boyer. Bert Roby as he was known, was a third generation Funeral Director, who owned and operated the Bert L. Boyer Funeral Home in his hometown of Leadwood for over 30 years, until he retired in 1993. He was a long time member of the Leadwood Methodist Church and was active in his community. Bert is survived by his wife, Evelyn I. "Bee" (Roberts) Boyer; three daughters, Bendi (Mrs. Bob) Powell of Bonne Terre, Patti Cates (Bill Martin) of Bonne Terre, Lori (Mrs. Larry) Merrill of Fredericktown; five grandchildren, Anne Powell and husband Dr. James Bollinger, Sarah (Mrs. Justin) Swarer, Lindsey (Mrs. Luke) Stigers, Dustin Merrill, Megan Cates; four great-grandchildren, Reese Swarer, Eli Swarer, Lincoln Stigers, Oliver Bollinger; sister-in-law,Norma Boyer of Jackson, TN. Several nieces, nephews and numerous friends also survive. Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer& Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Visitation will continue Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at the Memorial United Methodist Church on Karsch Blvd. inFarmington with Rev. Scott Hall officiating. Interment will follow at the Leadwood Cemetery.
